REIKI TRAINING

So what happens when you turn up at a reiki Masters establishment for an attunement to the reiki energy? It largely depends on what Master you go to. Ideally we were told that it is best to go to the same Master for each degree, however I think it is not essential.  I did my three levels with three different Masters and each one had their own way of working.
My first attunement was a very relaxed affair and there were just two of us trainees present, I had gone with a friend from the Spa where I was working at that time. The morning was spent listening to the history of Reiki. We then we had a healthy and balanced lunch in the garden and then the symbols were put into our auras, hands and crown of the head as we sat with eyes closed on two chairs next to each other, by the reiki Master. I felt absolutely nothing from my first attunement, during or after and was a little disappointed to be honest. I don't know what I was expecting but nothing was something I was not expecting, we had paid £120.00 each for the two days. We went back the second day for part two and more attuning, and we were taught the hand positions for the 21 day self cleansing programme that has to be completed. And I still felt nothing. However it didn't deter me and I thought I will press on and a few months later after practising on myself, house plants and the dog I enrolled on my level two reiki course.
This Master had come into reiki healing via his interest in martial arts and qi energy, which is probably the same energy used for healing but used in a different way for martial arts. It was a bigger group, probably eight of us and he was a very professional teacher who did everything by the book. After the attunement we had to memorise the symbols and destroy the paper, and practise distant healing on each other and practise  healing each other. It was a very interesting couple of sessions and I actually felt an energy from one of the symbols when he gave the attunement. He had an extra symbol that I had not encountered before for healing bones, the serpent of fire. When he did the procedure for that symbol I could feel an electric type of tingling going right up my spine. My hands tingled as well so the attunement seemed a lot more powerful than the first.
I stayed at level two for probably around 5 years, I had no wish or desire to be a Master for a considerable amount of time and I changed my mind primarily because I was curious as to what the difference was between a practitioner and a Master.
My Masters was done with a close intuitive friend who had her own way of doing everything, it was all laid back and I felt a huge amount of energy when she did the final attunement. I actually heard a crackling noise akin to electricity at one point which startled me as I wasn't expecting it.
So then I was a Master/ teacher and I have never really used it. I have probably attuned a handful of people who have specifically asked me to it for them but I never advertised myself as a teacher or Master. I don't know why, it just didn't feel right. So that's my reiki story.
All the Masters will get you to sit on chair and close your eyes for the attunements and then they go around you putting the symbols in the aura, hands, third eye and crown usually(tracing them with their fingers at the appropriate points), however some may work intuitively and do it their own way.
